MRI results are good! They found no problems with her brain at all. No bleeding, no lesions, no pressure! She still has a tiny bit of fluid but they don't think it's causing any problems for her especially since it's not creating any pressure. We will keep monitoring it with weekly head circumference checks. For the past 10 weeks her measurements have been right on track with her growth and we are believing that will continue.
It also showed no separation with her optic nerve and little to no vision loss. They will send the images to their other hospital just to get a second opinion but so far, we know that IF there is a problem, it's not acute.
The entire time I've been at the hospital today she's been sleeping and totally lethargic. She didn't even open her eyes for diaper changes or anything. Yet when the doctor came to talk to me, she opened her eyes as soon as he started speaking and smiled. She kept her eyes open and smiled the entire time we were talking! The minute he got up and left, she fell right asleep again. She must have enjoyed hearing the good news. :laugh:
She's also not back on the CPAP because she has been improving with her breathing on the cannula, even though she hasn't really been awake. The nurses say the dosage of sedative she got could have knocked out a horse (:eek:) so they're happy with her progress. Everyone is amazed that she needed that much to remain still. I wonder who she got that from?
Of course, we're giving her a break from bottle/breast feeding today but we will be back at it tomorrow. The docs want to get her back to where she was 3 days ago so that we can work on weaning her from oxygen support.
All in all...it's been a GREAT day. My God is an awesome God.

14 Weeks Old
Sydney had a loong night. She's really struggling to breathe after being so heavily sedated. When she's awake and stimulated, she's fine but once she falls asleep she struggles. This is no surprise to the doctors given the high dosage of sedatives she received. They're contemplating moving her back to the CPAP for the day while she recovers but haven't made the final decision yet. We're praying that she continues to improve throughout the day.
She weighs 6lbs 9oz today. Big girl!

MRI done
Now we wait...
We should have the results sometime tomorrow afternoon. They did a higher dose of the sedative today and she still woke up so they had to do another one. That thing is so loud! She's resting now but she's moving and squirming and she responds to being touched. She's just not awake but she is resting comfortably.

MRI - Round Two
Another MRI will be attempted at 3:30 today. She will be even more sedated than she was yesterday so we're hoping we can get it over with and stop stressing her. We so wish we could just do it for her.

It's been so long, I can't remember.
Sydney is doing fine. When we got back there last night, she was awake but still sleepy. She woke up for a diaper change and was looking around and then immediately fell asleep again as soon as I held her. My poor sweet baby. I'm gonna need for them to figure out a way to do the MRI without hurting her so that we can get on with the business of taking her home. I'm also planning to start The Society for the Abolition of RSV (:smile:) because it has set us back for almost 4 weeks. Did I already mention that I'm not a fan?
She weighs 6lbs 8oz today too. That's officially more than B weighed when he was born. Who knew she would be average baby sized before she would get home. I know that God had a purpose for all that's happened in the last weeks so we're holding on to that this week. This too shall pass.

Don't mess with my daughter!
They took her down for the MRI at noon but my girl was not having it. She received two doses of the sedative but as soon as they would get her positioned and turn on the machine, she was all bright eyed and bushy tailed. They waited a bit and tried three more times but she was not about to fall asleep. The whole test is so loud, even when your head is not covered, so it must have been quite alarming to be sleeping and then be awakened by a loud noise and something covering your head. I don't blame her one bit.
They will try again tomorrow or Thursday, depending on how long she stays groggy from the sedative she received today.
Of course, she's fast asleep now. :laugh:
